The Anglican Development Services (ADS) Kenya is the Specialized Development arm of the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK). ADS focuses on the social transformation of communities. ADS’ program revolves around health, community empowerment, food security advocacy, and climate change and adaptation. ADS operates in 10 Regions namely ADS Nyanza, ADS Western, ADS North Rift, ADS Central Rift, ADS South Rift, ADS Mt. Kenya, ADS Mt Kenya East, ADS NAIKA, ADS Eastern, and ADS Pwani.
The Anglican church of Kenya is keen to front Church-led solutions to help tackle the effects of Climate change in the Country. This work is spearheaded through the Green Anglicans Movement (GAM) Kenya, domiciled in ADS Kenya. GAM’s Care of creation work is on Eco theology, tree growing, clean energy solutions, and wastage management with strong advocacy i.e. Climate justice component.
Position on Offer:
ADS Kenya Is inviting interested and qualified candidates to submit applications for the Job of National Environmental Coordinator.
Overall goal of the job
Support the Development and implementation of ACK’s climate action intervention strategies at the national level, in liaison with the Dioceses and ADS Regions.
REPORTING
The job holder will be reporting to the Program Manager
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Work as part of the ADS Kenya National Secretariat team and report to the Program Manager of ADS Kenya.
- Design and implement environment interventions in line with the Anglican Church of Kenya's decade strategy, Anglican Development services Kenya Strategy and Green Anglican Movement (GAM) Strategy.
- Manage and coordinate National and International environment events including campaigns and green Churches.
- Co-ordinates Green Anglican Movement (GAM) programs and campaigns across the Country.
- Provides leadership on fundraising for environment activities within the Anglican Church of Kenya
- Prepares various written output such as project narrative reports and briefs and project working papers.
- In liaison with ACT Alliance works with internal and external partners on matters of environment and resources management such as COP 28.
- Provides leadership on environment linkages with government both national and county governments.
- Provides leadership on certification of ACK Environmental Ambassadors, Champions, and Chaplains.
- Liaise closely with the Finance unit for validation of financial reports.
- Work closely with ADS Kenya Regional teams and country secretariat to ensure sound delivery of environment projects with respect to timeliness, budget constraints, and pre-agreed deliverables.
- Enforce Data collection, monitoring, and evaluation of trees planted and grown with the aim of embedding evidence programming.
- Play a key role in project implementation and resource mobilization through local and external appeals.
- Participate in fundraising for environmental programs.
- Any other lawful and just duties assigned to you by your supervisor.
Qualification and Requirements- A bachelor’s degree in Environment sciences, Social science, project management or its equivalent.
- Excellent knowledge of environment issues globally and nationally.
- Three or more years’ experience in an environment management role.
- Experience in Environmental monitoring
- Experience in Environmental advocacy
- A tract record in managing stakeholders and working with diverse teams.
- The written and verbal communications skills to provide clear communications skills to provide clear communication of procedures and processes.
- Outstanding interpersonal and negotiation skills.
