The Co-operative
University of Kenya (CUK) is a Public University established under The
Universities’ Act 2012. CUK is located in Karen, approximately 20 KM from
Nairobi City Centre, in a conducive environment for academic engagement and

The Co-operative

positions;
Senior Procurement Officer –
Grade 13 – CUK/ADMIN./PROC/SPO./6/23 (1)
Remuneration: Basic Salary per
month: Kshs. (127,116 – 184,318 /=)
House Allowance per month:
Kshs. (58,792 /=)
Qualifications
- Must possess a masters degree and a bachelors degree in
Procurement/Supply Chain Management from an accredited/recognized
institution; - Must possess at least three (3) years’ experience in Grade 12
or equivalent in the Public Sector; - Must possess at least nine (9) years’ working experience in
Public Sector procurement with hands on experience in procurement ERP
systems and business workflow since attainment of a bachelors degree in
the relevant field; - Must be knowledgeable on Public
Sector procurement legal requirements and related administrative processes
and procedures - Must be a registered member of the Kenya Institute of
Supplies Management; - Must demonstrate professional competence in undertaking
procurement work; - Must possess excellent report writing, conflict management,
negotiation skills, Leadership skills, organizational, good Interpersonal
relationship, teamwork, time management, communication, decision making
and problem solving skills; - Must be proficient in computer applications;
- Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills;
- Experience in a University setting and possession of a
Postgraduate Diploma in Purchasing and Supplies or any other relevant
qualifications will be an added advantage
Responsibilities
- Develop departmental policies and strategy plans in the
University; - Manage and Control the budgets
and consolidating procurement plans from different departments; - Monitor compliance with the relevant statutory and regulatory
requirements; - Coordinate formulation and implementation of policies to
guide the procurement process in the institution; - Develop Work Plans in the department to assist in the smooth
running of the Department; - Control procurement procedures within the statutory framework
in order to avoid malpractices and misappropriation of funds in the
institution; - Supervise, train and develop the procurement team in order to
achieve a good efficient and competent team; - Oversee the process of tendering and quotations in accordance
with the relevant legal requirements; - Monitor compliance with the Public Procurement and Disposal
Act t and other procurement related legal requirements in the department
and across all units in the institution; - Communicate to bidders on tenders outcome according to the
legal provisions and the best - Ensure the goods are purchased,inspected, accepted and stored
well; - Prepare briefs for the negotiation committee during the
evaluation process; - Carry out market and delivery systems to assess present and
future material availability; - Recommend disposal of unserviceable stores, works and
equipment; and - Perform other duties as assigned from time to time

Recommendations from at
least three (3) referees should be sent separately to the address above on or
before Friday, 14th July 2023 at 00 noon;

qualifications obtained from foreign Universities will be expected to submit
recognition and equation of certificates by The Commission of University

candidates will be required to satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of

certificates from the following:
- Police Clearance Certificate from the Directorate of Criminal
Investigations (DCI); - Clearance Certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board;
- Tax Compliance Certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority;
- Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission; and
- Report from an Approved Credit Reference
Note 4: The
University shall conduct a background check for successful candidates within
the provisions of the Data Protection Act.
