The Selection Panel for the Appointment of Chairperson and Members of The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights Announcement of Vacancies
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the following positions in the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights:
A. Requirements for Appointment
1. Chairperson of the Commission
A person shall be qualified for appointment as the Chairperson of the Commission if the person:
(a) Has knowledge and at least fifteen years experience in matters relating to law and human rights;
(b) Holds a degree from a university recognized in Kenya; and
(c) Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
A person shall be qualified for appointment as Member of the Commission if  the person:
(a) Holds a degree from a university recognized in Kenya;
(b) Has knowledge and at least ten years’ experience in matters relating to any of the following fields-
(iv) Gender and Social Development;
(c) Has had a distinguished career in their respective fields; and
(d) Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
3. A person shall not be qualified for appointment as the Chairperson or a Member if such person:
(a) is a member of Parliament or a County Assembly;
(b) is a member of a local authority;
(c) is a undischarged bankrupt; or
(d) has been removed from office for contravening the provisions of the Constitution or any other law.
B. Tenure of Office for Chairperson and Member
The Chairperson and Members of the Commission shall be appointed for a single term of six years and are not eligible for re-appointment.
C. Terms of Service for Chairperson and Member
(ii) Shall not hold any other office or employment for profit whether public or private; and
(iii) Remuneration and benefits will be as set by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
D. Applicants should attach copies of clearance certificates from:-
(i) The Kenya Revenue Authority;
(ii) The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission;
(iii) Credit Reference Bureau Africa Limited;
(iv) Higher Education Loans Board (HELB); and
(v) Professional bodies they are affiliated to.
