Development Director to ensure the distribution of facts and key information of one of the company’s headline projects. The proposed project needs to be presented to the key local authority stakeholders on a provincial, county and district level and the relationships and communications managed on an on-going basis in line with official procedures and requirements.

To develop communications with local authority stakeholders at a provincial, county and district level regarding the company’s proposed projects and activitiesReport off-site to the Project Manager and CEO on a weekly and monthly basis, and interim as requiredAdvise the company of policies and procedures of developing projects in the local areaCarry out requirements of these policies and procedures (e.g. presenting project plans to relevant committees, holding key stakeholder meetings etc.)Manage relationships and communications with local authority stakeholdersWork alongside on-site staff:the Geology Manager to understand technical matters of the proposed projectthe CSR & Environment Officer to develop community liaison programmes and assist in the implementation of CSR projectsBuild and advance relations between the company and stakeholdersPrepare brief presentations for stakeholders on the proposed projectSchedule, coordinate and circulate minutes among group membersCollect views, opinions, analyse and make follow up measures on outcomesWell-developed facilitation skills and adaptability to different settings while engaging with various stakeholdersAnalytical interpersonal skills to gain understanding of the stakeholders (i.e. what they are saying versus what are really the issues/fears/agenda/interest)Patient and with good negotiation skills (most of the issues will probably require several meetings)Credible to both parties/stakeholders - seen as a middle ground person trying to achieve a win-win situation (trying to ensure the adequate communication systems are in place with reasonable flexibility)Sociable person who easily relates with stakeholders and is able to gather information from all sorts of angles/avenuesEfficient and effective mobilisation skills such that stakeholders participate of their interestFluency in Luo language is essentialA background in sociology or anthropology is desirableAn understanding of the exploration and mining industry would be a bonusQualified individuals are encouraged to apply.
