Program Description: The Research Care and Training Program (RCTP) is a collaboration between Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and University of Washington (UW). It is a dynamic comprehensive HIV prevention, research, care and treatment program in Kenya. It is a rapidly expanding program. The program is seeking motivated, pro-active individuals to fill the following vacancies in the Partners Demonstration Study. This is an open-label, pilot demonstration and evaluation project of antiretroviral-based HIV-1 prevention among high-risk discordant couples in heterosexual relationships, based at Lumumba Health Centre - Kisumu.
Location: Kisumu, Lumumba Health Centre
Minimum: Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery with current registration with Clinical Officers Council of Kenya.Training in Adult ART managementCounseling training is desirable such as VCT and CHCTResearch experience will be an added advantageAt least one year of experience preferably in a clinical research set up or Comprehensive Care Centre (CCC).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in both English and Kiswahili. Knowledge of Dholuo is an added advantage.Ability to work in a clinically busy, resource-challenged, and demanding environmentCompetency in using computer software applications like Microsoft Office programs and familiarity with web-based programs required.Having GCP training and human subjects protection certification will be an added advantageGood listening and writing skills.Must be flexiblePrevious work experience in a research clinic is requiredWorking in Partners PrEP study will be an added advantagePerform clinical assessment of participants, interpret laboratory results and follow up Adverse Events.Carry out medical examinations including gynecological exams and prescribe medication as required to the Study participantsEnsure participants access to standard of careCompleting Case report formsPerform phlebotomyConsent and determine eligibility of study participants in the studyReferral and tracking of all HIV positive participants for HAART initiationReports to the Lead clinician

Position: Community Outreach WorkerLocation: Kisumu, Lumumba Health Centre
Minimum: Form IV certificate and certificate in Counseling, Community Health, social work or any other relevant field.
At least one year of experience preferably in a clinical research set up or field work in a health related field/organization
