Plan International Inc. Kenya is seeking to recruit for the position Program Manager, to be based at the Country Office, Nairobi on a 2 year contract. The post holder will be reporting to the Head of Program Implementation and Quality of Plan International Inc. Kenya.
Purpose of the Job and Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the design, implementation and management of specific sector related programs with a focus on child protection, early childhood development and education.Be responsible for supporting the conceptualization, planning, implementation, and monitoring & evaluation, resource management, associated to thematic areas.Work closely with stakeholder and partner relationship management and ensure timely quality internal and donor reportingThe incumbent will be well versed and experienced in multi sectorial development approaches and be able to draw synergy from multiple projects and partners to demonstrate holistic program effectiveness and whilst forming alliances for advocacyBe well versed in managing multi-million dollar programs and must be abreast with donor regulations, environment and reportingS/he should have managed project budgets over and above USD10 million a year preferably across various implementation sites and have worked with partnersThe incumbent to have worked in a fast changing and diverse development environment and be able to coordinate the activities of a range of Project ManagersLead the team in developing concepts and proposals (narrative and budgets), support the development, implementation and review of Plan’s Country Strategic Plan and the Child Protection and education programs ensuring Plan’s development efforts are aligned to the Country Strategic Plan (CSP)To represent Plan at relevant development/national Child Protection and Education clusters and at donor foraBesides general program/project management experience, the Programme Manager should have a strong technical expertise and bias in Child Protection, Education; the position holder will double up as Plan’s Education focal personEducational Qualification, Knowledge & Experience:
Masters’ degree in International Development and/or Education or Child Welfare or other relevant degree from a recognized university is preferred7 years’ experience in multi-sectoral programming and at least 3 years’ experience in a senior management role in INGOSpecialist knowledge in programme management and project cycle managementTechnical expertise in education; child protection, early childhood development and a good understanding of advocacy is required for this positionSound understanding of integrated development issues and critical analysis of child povertyKnowledge of development issues, trends, challenges and opportunities and implications to community developmentDemonstrated knowledge of strategic planning processesDemonstrated experience in multi sectorial approach to developmentDemonstrated knowledge of educational policies, frameworks and regulations in KenyaHow to apply:If you meet the requirements of the above position, please visit http://plan-international-kenya.org/jobs/ to access the full job description and make an online application.
