Chemonics seeks an experienced regional field accountant for USAID's ongoing Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET) in Kenya. Under the direction of the home-office-designated field accounting support team manager, the regional field accountant will establish and maintain uniformity and accuracy in field accounting procedures and ensure that field accounting practices adhere to USAID's and Chemonics' regulations and policies. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
Advise field offices on financial compliance matters, review and analyze local account submission, and help projects create approaches for asset and liability managementTravel to field offices, install accounting software and tracking mechanisms, and train field personnel to use the softwarePerform related duties as required to ensure the department's successQualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or a related fieldMinimum five years of experience with auditing and USAID/government regulationsPrior knowledge of accounting systems; knowledge of ABACUS or QuickBooks a plusExperience performing accounting audits or reviewsKnowledge of USAID operations preferredAbility to evaluate options to solve technical, managerial, and operational problems based on relevant information, resources, experience, and knowledgeDemonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and to lead presentations, training courses, and meetingsDemonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrityFluent English required; fluent French preferredHow to apply:Send electronic submissions to FEWSNETKenya@gmail.comby January 19, 2015.
