We currently have an exciting career opportunity for Business Development Officer, Direct Sales. The post holders will report to the Head of Marketing & E-Commerce and will be based in Nairobi.
Role Purpose: Procure direct new business and ensure retention in full compliance with the laid down procedures and guidelines as set out in the operations manuals.
Responsibilities
New Business Development
- Provide leadership to the direct sales team to ensure agreed targets are achieved
- Recruit and train direct sales representatives
- Ensure follow-up on potential clients is done timely to ensure business is procured
- Set up meetings between client/ decision makers and relevant business units’ representatives.
- Work with business units to develop proposals and/or quotations in relation to the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives
- Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
Monitoring and evaluation
- Submit weekly and monthly performance reports
- Track and record activity on accounts and help to close deals to meet set targets.
- Work with relevant business units to ensure that prospects’ quotations and proposals are provided within 6 hours.
- Keep abreast with the company’s new and existing products
Qualification and Experience
Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, economic, Commerce, Marketing, Insurance or equivalent from a recognized university
- Professional certification in insurance, marketing or any other relevant field
Functional Skills
- New ideas generation
- Market intelligence and business development skills

- Interpersonal skill
- Communication & presentation skills
- IT proficient (especially Ms Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Relevant Experience
- At least 3 years relevant experience
