We are inviting applications for the following position:
Community Development Facilitator
Based at Kisumu.
The position is a one-year fixed term contract and the incumbent will report to the Sponsorship Coordinator Kisumu.
Purpose of the Job:
The main purpose for the job is to mobilize community for sustained participation in sponsorship production as per the corporate standards.
The key responsibilities are to
To work with children and families to ensure their active participation in sponsorship andprogram activities
Ensure appropriate consultation, participation and feedback to the community in relation to Planprograms and policies.
Works with community volunteers to ensure quality and timely sponsorship production.
Trains youth volunteers on the sponsorship book guidelines and to ensure objectives ofcommunity managed sponsorship are realised
Ensure effective planning and monitoring of community volunteers for delivery of timely andquality sponsorship products.
Interacts regularly with Community Based Organisations (CBOs) for awareness creation,mentoring, community mobilisation, and availability and safety of working tools.
Works closely with other team members to identify capacity gaps of Community BasedOrganisations (CBOs) and ensure the same is addressed.
Prepares and shares monthly reports for learning and follow-up where necessary
Creates awareness to communities on Plan International expectations on communications andissues of child rights.
Ensures child protection concerns are documented and reported according to Plan policies.
Collaboration with other staff to ensure there is integration between program and sponsorship
Qualifications and Experience
Degree in Social Sciences, Development studies or Diploma in Community Development
At least 2 years’ experience in an NGO preferably in sponsorship communications
Experience in community participation in development and partnership building
Demonstrate ability to work and mobilize communities to implement development project
Experience working with community based organisation (CBO), children and volunteers
Ability to ride a motorcycle is mandatory
