Pre-Qualification of Suppliers of Vegetable Oil for WFP Eastern and Central Africa

Expression of Interest: Pre-Qualification of Suppliers of Vegetable Oil for WFP Eastern and Central Africa

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide.

Each year, on average, WFP feeds more than 90 million people and it is present in 81 countries.

WFP’s region of East and Central Africa (RBN) covers Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan and Tanzania.

WFP purchases food items including vegetable oil to support the agency’s global fight against hunger. In 2014, WFP purchased over 20,000 mt of palm olein for this region.

The WFP intends to identify qualified producers of vegetable oils which are able to provide WFP palm olein, soybean oil or sunflower oil to fulfil beneficiary’s needs in the Eastern and Central Africa region.

The producer must be located in the East and Central Africa region and registered under national food law as a processor of foods for human consumption.

In addition, the producer must be registered with the relevant authorities and have a legal authorization to produce this commodity in the country where the factory is located.

WFP hereby invites qualified suppliers to express their interest by emailing to wfp.rbnprocurement@wfp.org, Subject: Expression of Interest – Supply of Vegetable Oil until 31st August 2015, 17:00 hours (Nairobi time).

The interested applicants will receive a form for preliminary vendor registration to be submitted until 10th September 2015.

The Expression of Interest may be followed by an inspection of your factory, facilities and other amenities by WFP.

All requests for clarifications and questions relating to this invitation should be sent strictly via e-mail to: wfp.rbnprocurement@wfp.org

Please note that this is not an Invitation To Tender. Rates/prices are not required at this stage, and this invitation does not bind the World Food Programme to issue any tenders or contracts to the companies expressing their interest.

WFP does not charge any fees for registration forms.
