Production & Process Development Manager (Artemisinin) Job

Job Description


Vacancy: Production & Process Development Manager 


Our client is a private limited company primarily involved in the production of artemisinin to fight multi-drug resistant malaria based in the EPZ. 


They are looking to hire a Production and Process Development Manager to report to the Factory Manager.


Job Purpose / Summary: To efficiently and safely use the equipment available, staff and materials to develop a process(es) to produce the required quantity of product(s) to the required quality on schedule at the minimum cost.
 


Duties and Responsibilities


To understand the production targets and budgets and to plan, coordinate and implement all production and development activities to meet these objectives.

To supervise activities in the Development Lab so as to improve existing processes and to develop processes compatible with the factory for new products.

To ensure that all relevant Statutory Safety Regulations, Company Standard Operating Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices and relevant Company rules and regulations are followed.

To manage factory staff in a way that ensures optimum cost effectiveness for the company and avoids any potential staff issues and litigation. In undertaking this function, to ensure that factory staff do not create a safety hazard to themselves, to others, to equipment and to the facilities.

To budget, control, monitor and report to the factory manager the departments’ production output, material usages and staff utilization against targets and rectify deviations.

To write / revise / review / implement SOPs that are relevant to the departments.

To liaise with the maintenance department to ensure equipment is maintained and downtime minimized.

To contribute to the development of the departments and the Company by suggesting / implementing improvements and to assist the HR department in the formulation of personnel policies.

To monitor and evaluate the performance of staff and identify any need for training, reassignment, discipline. Where competent to do so, provide the training.

When required, stand in for / train the Development / Production Supervisor.

When required, to perform any other duty that may be reasonably requested.


Minimum Requirement


Degree in chemical and / or process engineering or a related subject.

At least five years working experience in the chemical process / FMCG industry, preferably with at least a year’s experience in a management position.


Skills:


Good understanding of production targets and budgets and ability to adapt factory procedures / activities to ensure that they are met.

Ability to recognise and rectify faults in the process and recognise faults with the equipment.

Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to motivate, train and supervise a multi discipline team.

Ability to plan and manage shifts and ensure good time keeping with minimum overtime and minimum casual staff to consistently achieve the expected outputs.

Ability to prioritise tasks and be self-motivated to meet development and production targets

Ability to write production and technical reports. 

Competent in Word, Excel and Outlook Express 


Salary Budget: Kshs. 125,000
