Purpose of the Position
The Nutrition Information Management Specialist will be responsible for facilitating, guiding and managing the nutrition information component from the Resilience Analysis Unit (RAU) as well as ensuring a technical capacity in nutrition information management for the Regional Nutrition Sub-Group.
Key Expected Results
Provide the Resilience Analysis Unit and the Regional Nutrition Sub-group a nutrition technical capacity on nutrition information management, in:
a) Developing, maintaining and updating a regional database on the nutrition situation of vulnerable people, nutrition programming including resilience initiatives;
b) Leading and providing technical in the development and implementation of the nutrition component of the measurement, monitoring and evaluation of resilience of people;
c) Leading the development of the research agenda that captures the nutrition dimension within the concept of resilience and the nutrition related determinants of resilience;
d) Contributing to an integrated advocacy and the IGAD nutrition policy dialogue to promote resilience programming and monitoring;
e) Support capacity development for resilience analysis.
Qualifications of Successful Candidate
- Advanced university degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Epidemiology, statistics, and/or Medical Sciences;
Eight years of progressively responsible professional work experience in developing and/or humanitarian situations in developing countries some of which should be in the field of nutrition information and analysis; progressive responsible experience in managing project and/or offices and staff, programme formulation, planning, management and evaluation;
Previous experience in resilience related experience will be an asse
- Fluency in English (verbal and written). Good written and spoken skills and knowledge of another UN language an asset;
