Our client in the not for profit sector has been contracted to implement a 3-year donor project and is seeking suitable and highly motivated people to fill the following positions within the project:
Chief Finance Officer
Purpose of the role: The Chief Finance Officer role is designed to act as a liaison between senior management team and operational aspects of programme.
The holder of this position is expected to deeply appreciate the strategic aspects and policies of the programme and translate them into operational tasks of the business.
Responsibilities:
- Set organisational financial goals, and provide recommendations regarding effective utilisation of long-term and short term financial goals of the project
- Oversee the preparation of annual budget, regular variance statements and annual audits
- Provide vision and leadership in long range fiscal planning to ensure the continuity and solvency of the project
- Implement robust contracts management and financial management/reporting system; ensure that the contract billing is adhered to and that financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements.
- Review and analyse expenditure, financial, and operations reports to determine organisational requirements
- Responsible for strict cost management, reviewing all service provider quotations and on a monthly basis conduct detailed analysis of expense approvals, equipment maintenance, stationery consumption, telephone bills, sundry losses and staff costs.
- Active involvement and accountability for making purchase business decisions within set limits.
- Monitor costs against best practice and develop databank of suppliers.
- Ensure organisational compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards requirements.
Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (K)
- Master’s in Business Administration is an added advantage
- Bachelor of Commerce or a business-related degree from recognised university
- 5 years’ experience in accounting, finance and administration from a reputable organisation
- At least 3 years’ experience in a management position
- Experience in managing donor funds
- High competence in overseeing accounting software operations and MS Office applications
- Knowledge in IFRS and GAAP desired
- Good understanding and experience in implementing donor reporting requirements
- In depth understanding of local and cross border taxation practice
