Systems Administrator Job in Kenya

Sheer Logic is seeking to engage a dynamic individual for the Systems Administrator position.

Job Purpose: To ensure that all ICT infrastructure are functioning and optimal usage of the same by staff. Install, configure, and support an organization"s local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet system or a segment of a network system. 

Maintain network hardware and software. Monitor network to ensure network availability to all system users and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability. 

May supervise other network support and client server specialists and plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures. 

The purpose is to ensure the implementation, support and maintenance of the Corporation’s core ERP system to align with its mission, goals and strategic plan.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

• Install and configure both software and hardware (PC’s laptops, printers and other ICT devices) as per the ICT standards. Diagnose hardware and software problems, and replace defective components as well as offer first line user support services.


• Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.


• Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures in order to protect data, software, and hardware.


• Recommend changes to improve systems, network configurations and infrastructure and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes. As well as maintain an up to date inventory of company ICT equipment and infrastructure.


• Establish monitoring processes for the various business applications, which provide accurate, pertinent and timely information to manage investments in information and associated resources.


• Ensure that proper backups are done for all critical systems as per the backup policy.


• Ensure that security of information and data is maintained.


• Ensure availability of systems to support the Corporation’s key operational functions as per agreed SLA.


• Ensure the compliance of ICT policy and procedures and adherence to ISO policies and procedures.


• Implement and support central business applications including ERP systems, application databases, messaging and collaboration applications, while ensuring that information management resources, strengths and weaknesses are analyzed and corrective action implemented in accordance with the ICT departmental business plan and overall organization strategy.


• Perform database backup and validate recovery plans.  Implement Disaster recoveries, and perform Database and Application Cloning.


• Compliance and adherence to statutory requirements concerning information management such as audit, risk management, copyright and freedom of information.


• Enforce effective security of information application systems within the Corporation’s infrastructure.


• Assist in development and implementation of ICT and overall corporate strategy.


• Assist in developing and managing ICT departmental budget.

Academic Qualifications:

• MBA in relevant field


• University degree in BBIT or Computer Science

Experience:

• Exposure to payroll and accounting systems


• Dash boards experience


• Network infrastructure


• Trouble shooting exposure


• Web enabled environment


• Exposure to business processes and systems.

Professional Qualifications

• At least three years’ experience in system administration


• Certified database/Unix administrator and/or Microsoft Certified Engineer


• Basic hardware knowledge


• MCSE


• CCNA


• Linux Administration


• CISA/CISM
