Managing Directors & CEOs
Summary: Our client, a leading East Africa focused private equity firm seeks to recruit senior professionals across three dynamic FMCG businesses based in Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia, respectively.
Each of the businesses produce a subset of FMCG products including bottled water, juices, carbonated soft drinks, biscuits, cereals and other snacks.
Ideal candidates will be at Managing Director or Country / Regional Director level with the skills and ability to drive the businesses forward through rapid expansion as well as drive internal change management processes to professionalize the respective businesses.
Location: Will vary across Nairobi, Kampala and/or Addis Ababa.
Start Date: Will vary with respective companies with earliest start date of 1 May 2016
Reporting Structure: Successful candidate will report directly to the Board of Directors of each respective company where the private equity firm will have significant influence;
As the General Manager or MD, all other senior managers within the respective companies will report directly to the Candidate
Responsibilities
- Implement and drive execution of 5-year strategic investment plan including:
- Responsible for overall marketing and distribution operations of the Company by defining strategies and implementing processes to drive growth of brands within local and export markets;
- Define marketing strategies to address gaps left by key competitors in the market;
- Supervise and oversight on inventory procurement/ supply chain management to ensure production meets local market demand and is reactive to market and competitor trends;
- Design distribution structure and channel partners to ensure adequate coverage of urban and rural markets.
Experience/ Qualifications
- Significant experience in food or beverage production with significant experience in manufacturing.
- Functional knowledge of production, sales and marketing, supply chain management and business financials with experience in either water, juice, carbonated drinks, biscuits and cereals.
- Ability to work independently with no supervision reporting into the respective Board of Directors.
- Strong leadership skills, well organized, flexible and able to embrace the challenge of being an agent of change within a business;
- Previous experience of working in Africa is essential and/or knowledge and experience in working in multicultural environments
Compensation: Competitive compensation package including (salary + housing allowance + other benefits) depending on experience;
Back-ended equity participation based on vesting schedule and on achievement of investment plan milestones.
