MSH seeks to recruit a highly motivated and result oriented individual as a Maternal and Newborn Health, Senior Technical Manager for a 21-month Patient-Centered Group Antenatal Care Project: Lea Mimba based in Kakamega County, Kenya. 





The purpose of the project is to increase access to and utilization of quality Maternal and Newborn Health (MNH) services, specifically for adolescents and young women, and strengthen the health systems to deliver quality MNH services.

The Maternal and Newborn Health Technical Manager will be responsible for providing overall technical and strategic leadership and administrative oversight of the Patient-Centered Group Antenatal Care project in Kakamega County, including managing activities, timelines, staffing, and reporting requirements to the funding authority, the County Innovation Challenge Fund (CICF).





S/he will oversee direct project implementation and will be accountable for project deliverables and results, technical strategy, project management, documentation and communication, client(s) stakeholder(s) relationships, and coordination and synergy with other MSH projects and collaboration with MSH staff.
 


The preferred candidate will advocate with county health officials, and other stakeholders to build support for the ANC model and ensure sustainability. 





Collaborate closely with existing country health forums, MNCH working groups and other mechanisms. Oversee the data collection and evidence generation activities and ensure the Monitoring and Evaluation (M & E) plan is well- implemented.
S/he will manage technical staff from the Kenya Progressive Nurse Association (KPNA) implementing the project in Kakamega County. Previous experience managing a DFID project will be an added advantage.
 


Qualifications and Experience
 


The ideal candidate should have a minimum degree in Nursing (BSC), Registered Nurse or Midwife with a Master’s degree in Public Health or related area. 





At least seven years demonstrated experience in designing and implementing maternal and newborn health (MNH) interventions. 





S/he should have had at least two years management experience. Experience in organizational development and human resource management is an added advantage.
 


S/he should have experience in monitoring and evaluation of public health programs, including qualitative and quantitative data collection methods. Previous experience implementing and managing a rigorous training system including quality assurance and improvement is required. 





Experience working in Kakamega County and an understanding of the local context will be an added advantage.
 


In addition, the successful candidate should have demonstrable skills as an effective manager and team player, with strong skills in achieving measurable results. 





S/he should excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrated leadership, ability to build synergies across technical disciplines. 





Demonstrated computer skills in MS Office Suite applications, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel. 





Working knowledge of local language is highly recommended.





The candidate should be willing to relocate to Kakamega with ability to travel within Kenya.
