Our client is a leading player in the FMCG industry.





In order to compete effectively in the market, position the brand, increase market share and drive profitability, the company seeks to recruit an energetic, focused, self-driven enthusiastic professional to fill the position of a General Manager
 


1 Position



Role Overview:
Reporting to the Managing Director, the General Manager will be responsible for the day to day management of the company, lead business development initiatives, strengthen operational structures to ensure smooth operations, oversee the sales force work and ensure deliver on set business objectives. 






 

They will be responsible for generating strategies to ensure the business delivers value to customers and owners and remains competitive.  





The position holder will be the first port of call for all issues involving the operations, marketing, human resources, administration and finance among others. 





They will have the overall responsibility to run the business professionally and deliver on profitability and other key deliverables.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Oversee the day to day operations of the company and ensure seamless interaction between the various functions of the organization;

  • Overall in charge of general operations, human resources, finance, business development  and administration;

  • Provide guidance and strategic planning for the company with respect to the organizational objectives, goals and targets;

  • Lead and motivate the  team  to ensure they deliver and meet the set objectives ;

  • Manage the office and staff to ensure harmonious working relations and effective customer service;

  • Develop, Implement and execute all strategic  initiatives so as to maximize their impact and to help meet/ exceed organizational goals;

  • Generate  reliable referral sources and prospects for business  development and growth;

  • Conduct staff meetings to motivate the team, set goals and share organizational vision and objectives;

  • Develop strategies for driving business growth in line with the business objectives;

  • Develop and enhance customer relationships by establishing, promoting, maintaining excellent customer service;

  • Working closely with the Managing Director, review achievements and goals and review what needs to be changed;

  • Represent  the Managing Director in industry meetings, forums, events and exhibitions;

  • Perform any other tasks as delegated or required by the Managing Director from time to time.


Person Specifications / Qualifications

  • A degree in a relevant field from a recognized and accredited university;

  • A diploma in Sales and Marketing or any other relevant postgraduate qualifications will be an added advantage;

  • Over eight  (8) years working experience, three (3) of which must have been in an FMCG business ;

  • Practical experience in sales and marketing is an added advantage.

  • Strong relationship management, analytical, problem solving and strategic thinking and leadership skills;

  • Strong presentation skills, with the ability to inform, influence and persuade at various levels at either corporate or individual level;

  • A highly motivated, strong and assertive and ambitious person who is enthusiastic for results;

  • High levels of integrity, initiative and attention to detail;

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage several tasks and semi autonomous teams  simultaneously;

  • Flexible enough with the willingness to assume a range of unanticipated assignments;

  • Team player and leader who is able to achieve results through people;

  • Strong work ethics with superior professionalism and high level of responsibility;

  • An entrepreneurial minded personality with a strong business acumen and ability to spot and grab opportunities;

  • Ability to effectively work under tight deadlines and manage work independently;

  • A strong  customer service oriented person with a pleasant and outgoing personality ;

  • Proven ability to drive business using both traditional and new technology driven platforms

  • Good working proficiency MS Office Suite.
