Maintenance Technician Job in Karen, Nairobi, Kenya

Our client operates a family run 5* boutique hotel in Karen, Nairobi. 

The hotel has been solely run by the family since inception.
 

They are looking for a Maintenance Technician to maintain all engineering systems in the hotel through internal & outsourced resources.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain all mechanical areas in an orderly and clean condition including the boiler and generator rooms.


• Assist with the general upkeep of the hotel and maintaining the general hotel facilities.


• Cleaning of light covers, bulbs and liaising with housekeeping for high cleaning & dusting.


• Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on heating, cooling and ventilation systems and advice to outsource services where necessary.


• Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on plumbing systems such as clogged drains and gas fireplace lighting and advice to outsource services where necessary.


• Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on electrical & mechanical systems and advice to outsource services where necessary.


• Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on appliances and advice to outsource services where necessary.


• Move heavy furniture, equipment and supplies.


• Perform routine maintenance jobs and repairs as well as maintain the Rooms Preventative Maintenance Program and consistently keep updated records on file.


• Respond to all guests’ requests in a timely and efficient manner and other job requests.


• After hours on-call availability if an issue arises, available some weekends.


• Ensure sufficient supply of water to the hotel at all times.


• Inspecting property to identify potential and current needs & act on them on a timely manner.


• Ensuring maintenance procedures are followed and maintenance costs controlled.


• Coordinating with local health, safety, fire, and building inspectors to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.


• Servicing the hotel’s pool, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning filters.


• Completing maintenance logs correctly and on a timely manner.


• To ensure proper personal grooming and correct dressing at all times.


• To assist with and participate in regular training or coaching sessions and implement learnt material.


• To take part in any fire or evacuation drills and ensure complete familiarisation with all exits, including those normally used by customers, as well as fire escapes.


• To promote team spirit.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

• Experience in maintaining and running boilers


• Higher National Diploma in Electrical engineering


• Should be flexible and able to work in shift


• Good people skills


• Good team player

Remuneration: An attractive salary is on offer dependent on skills, qualifications and experience.
