Job Vacancy: Country Manager – Civil Engineering
Our Client is a registered foreign Engineering firm just registered in Kenya that does consulting for infrastructure and urban development.
They focus mainly on the East African Market.
Reports to: The Managing Director
The Role: Overall management of the firm’s operations and general matters in coordination with the business development with both public and private qualified engineers in sectors of trade
Responsibilities:
- Building up the internal operation systems
- Provide expert advice on the design, planning and management of civil construction projects, covering all types of residential and commercial construction, particularly in the area of large, public infrastructure projects.
- Make expert assessments of selected sites for construction, evaluating the structural, environmental and commercial feasibility of future projects.
- Responsible for creating detailed drawings, plans and schedules and estimating the cost of the construction and engineering work required.
- In charge of finalising construction plans and obtaining final approval from the clients.
- Periodically be monitoring site activities to ensure that construction is progressing according to planned schedules and budgets.
- In charge of making sure that all the construction activities meet quality standards and comply with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Finally, you’ll be responsible for resolving any issues and problems arising onsite, offering expert advice, closing out any possible gaps and addressing any unforeseen risks.
- Regularly need to spend time keeping up-to-date on the latest trends and developments within the construction industry, reading about newly-enacted legislation and gathering information on new tools and techniques.
Qualifications & Skills
- Must have more than 15 years working experience with a credible Engineering firm
- Must have an academic degree in civil engineering, MSc. would be preferred
- Must be a member of or has registration in the relevant professional body
- Must have worked in similar capacity for not less than 8 years or been an engineering consultant
For urban development projects in same duration.
- Must have international experience preferably in related company
- Must have experience in managing a consulting firm and the division employees
- Must have ability to write technical proposals and have good personal network with possible
Public authorities in neighboring countries
- Must have good acquaintances with relevant Kenyan procurement and employment sectors
- Must be passionate about work and able to accomplish the goals of the firm
- Must not have any criminal record.
- Must be a skilled leader and able to build good relations with all stakeholders
- Must have a sense of team work, integrity and hard working
- Must have permission to work in Kenya.
