Job Title: HR Manager
Industry: Shipping Freight Services
Location: Mombasa
Reporting to: MD
Salary: Kshs 100,000 – 120,000 gross
Our client is an international shipping line company that offers fleet, special cargo, logistics and container carrier and tracking services.
They seek to hire a human resource manager who will be directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the human resource function.

Key duties and responsibilities
- Reviewing, developing and implementing HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
- Plans, organizes and controls all activities of the department. Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
- Reporting to management and provide decision support through HR metrics.
- Maintaining an organizational charts and employee directory.
- Ensuring both legal and statutory compliance by the company and employees.
- Establishing and maintaining department records and reports including employee files, attendance and leave schedules, etc.
- Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings, such as seminars.
- Evaluating reports, decisions and results of the department initiatives in relations to established goals and recommending new approaches where applicable.
- Bridging the management and employee relations gap by addressing demands, grievances or other issues.
- Managing the end to end recruitment and selection process.
- Planning and conducting new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward Company goals.
- Overseeing and managing a performance appraisal system that drives high performance.
- Analyzing and assessing training needs to apply, develop and monitor training programs
- Supporting current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation and preservation of human capital.
- Developing and monitoring overall HR strategies, systems, tactics and procedures across the organization and providing advice.
- Nurturing and promoting a positive working environment.
- Maintaining the pay structure and benefits program scheme.
Qualifications and other job requirements
- BS/MS degree in Human Resources or related field
- Should have at least 5 years of experience managing day to day HR operations and development of short term and long term strategies initiatives.
- Should be a holder of a higher diploma in Human Resource Management and a member of IHRM.
- Proven working experience as HR manager in the shipping freight or logistics sectors is preferred
- People oriented and results driven
- Demonstrable experience with human resources metrics
- Knowledge of HR systems and databases
- Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills
- Excellent active listening, negotiation and presentation skills
- Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
- In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices
