Sexual Reproductive Health: HIV Knows no Borders Project (KNB II 2021 - 2026)
Consultancy for the Development of CSE Materials (KNB Phase II)
Background
The SRHR-HIV Knows No Borders (KNB) project Phase II was launched in April 2021 as a partnership between Save the Children International (SCI ESARO) specifically through the Regional Programming Unit (RPU) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The partnership collaborate to implement a holistic, regional project to improve sexual and reproductive health and HIV (SRH-HIV) related outcomes amongst migrants, sex workers and young vulnerable people YVPs) as well as non-migrant adolescents, young people, sex workers and their clients in migration-affected communities in Southern Africa with funding support from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands through the Embassy in Maputo. The six implementing countries in the SADC region Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Eswatini and Zambia have been maintained into the second phase of the protect.
Purpose of the Assignment
The program is currently undertaking review of Capacity Building Materials in HIV and SRHR to support implementation of the second phase of the project. Further development of materials is necessary to improve Human development, Puberty, Reproductive Health and Sexuality knowledge and skills of Educators, Parents and Children.
We require services of a consultant or consultancy firm to develop Comprehensive Sexuality Education Materials with compliance to global standards and pitched at the appropriate level to respond to the needs of the different audience groups as well as alignment with policies and curricula from the six participating countries.
Deliverables
- An inception report outlining the consultant's understanding of the assignment, the proposed the CSE Materials and process of developing the CSE Materials.
- The consultant should identify critical topics for the CSE Materials from existing capacity building materials
- A draft the CSE Materials that takes care of the comments of the CB task team
- Final CSE Materials - demonstrate responsiveness to the needs of the different audience groups and covering a guide on how to use the CSE materials at the different levels
Duration and Deadlines
We estimate that the consultant will commit 30 working days in August/September 2021 to complete the project
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience Required
- Advanced University degree in Public Health, Sexual and Reproductive Health, International development Studies, Social Sciences or other relevant technical field, with a minimum of 5 years' experience in SRH and HIV programming.
- Proven previous experience in developing training materials and in capacity building, preferably in the field of SRHR-HIV and/or Comprehensive Sexuality Education and migration health.
- Proven knowledge on migration health policies, strategies and legislations at global, regional and national levels relevant to SRHR-HIV, especially in the target countries, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Swaziland and Zambia.
- Excellent analytical and technical writing skills.
- Previous experience in working with an international development agency is an asset;
- Effective English writing and interpersonal communication skills.
Interested candidates / institutions should submit an Expression of Interest along with a proposal/application on how the bidder will undertake this assignment and proposed fees.
Structure of the Technical Proposal/Application: The Technical Proposal should include but not be limited to the following:
- Detailed understanding of requirements
- Detailed Methodology/Approach demonstrating how you meet requirements for this assignment
- Budgeted Work plan (including a time line) showing the detailed sequence and timeline for each activity and deliverable
- Dependencies and assumptions
Bidders are requested to back up their submissions by providing:
- Evidence of previous experience in the past eight years in the form of contracts and/or references.
- Two samples of previous work undertaken
- Curriculum Vitae
- Reference /Contact person details
For institutions / companies bidding: Details of the Proposed Team for the assignment must be submitted including the following information:
- Title/Designation of each team member on the project
- Updated CVs and profiles of each team member
- Team members on each segment of the project and their specific roles in them.
