The Lutheran World Federation (LWF; German: Lutherischer Weltbund) is a global communion .The Department for World Service is the LWF’s humanitarian arm. It has programmes in 32 countries. The LWF is a member of ACT Alliance.
Overall purpose of the role:
Reporting to the Technical Lead Youth protection and Development, the post holder will be charged with the following key responsibilities;
Responsibilities:
The officer will be charged with overseeing the daily operations of Kakuma Freelance Lab
- Provide support to youth from host and refugee community who are program alumni to continue with freelance work from the Kakuma Freelance lab for sustainable growing (freelance) businesses
- Manage the linkages of trained youths on entrepreneurship with identified markets from private sector companies (such as Microsoft, Pipe drive, Bolt, Google…) and as provided by LWF and donors.
- Charged with ensuring that all Digital Literacy sessions at Youth centers are well coordinated and meet the needs of youths from the community.
- Support in facilitating Mentorship and Life Skills programme for young people (Male and Female) in Kakuma and Kalobeyei, as part of the youth mentorship programme
- Conduct regular trainings for LWF incentive/refugee staff to enhance their capacities on information technology, online protection and monitor use of knowledge gained during implementation.
- Carry out regular monitoring of Youth activities being implemented at Kakuma camp and Kalobeyei settlement
- Prepare and submit timely activity reports as per set donor guideline and timeline.
- Create new and maintain existing collaborative linkages with program partners
- Facilitate linkage with community based structures at Kakuma camp, Kalobeyei community and host community
- Support in development of concept paper for new proposal and review of LWF documents as needed
- Supports in developing links and relationships with partners, community groups, and other youth led organizations and potential employers for supporting young people’s progression.
- Carry out any other assignment as requested by the Youth Protection and development Technical Lead.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, Project Planning and Management, Community Development, Social Work or related fields
- Proven experience of minimum 3 years working within a humanitarian and development programme.
- Experience working in an international NGO will be an added advantage.
- An impeccable professional standard of ethics as well as the willingness and ability to implement accountability activities within the LWF World Service essential.
- Certification in Program Management or other relevant certifications an added advantage.
COMPETENCIES
- Excellent computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, use of internet and email
- Proven experience in Project Management within the humanitarian sector.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including influencing negotiation and pragmatism.
- Excellent analytical, facilitation and documentation experience with humanitarian programmes.
- Ability to liaise with a variety of people successfully and effectively in a multicultural set up.
- Ability to work independently.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
