Career Opportunity: Assistant Accountant



We are a dynamic,
well-established Savings and Credit Co-operative Society in the country for all
professionals with membership spread globally.



We are seeking to recruit a
highly qualified result-oriented individual for the position of Assistant Accountant.



1. JOB TITLE & REPORTING



TITLE: ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT



REPORTING: TO THE CHIEF ACCOUNTANT




2. JOB PURPOSE: To carry out financial and accounting processes, in
compliance with financial policies, procedures and controls systems.



3. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES



a) Daily receipting of bank
receipts including cash deposits, standing orders, direct debits, M-PESA, check
offs and other remittances and follow up of unidentified banking’s with the
banks and corporates to provide details to enable receipting.



b) Scanning of cheques and
forwarding to the bank and ensure reconciliations is done



c) Validate and process payment
of member withdrawals and other refunds within the agreed timelines ensuring
the right amount are refunded to the right members.



d) Process payments of loans to
members through bank transfers or MPESA.



e) Prepare daily summaries of
cash inflows/outflows, cash position reports, timely replenishing and inter
account transfers.



f) Prepare imprests and petty
cash requisitions and replenishments and keep safe custody of the office petty
cash.



g) Verify imprest and petty
cash surrenders and post the expenses to their respective ledgers



h) Ensure accurate and timely
financial record keeping.



i) Timely processing of
payments to suppliers accurately and accounts reconciliation.



j) Prepare creditors aging
reports and ensure follow up is done and due accounts paid up.



k) Assist in preparation of
payments for statutory bodies such as KRA, HELB, NITA, NSSF and NHIF



l) Assist in preparation of tax
and other statutory returns in compliance with the statutory deadlines.



m) Prepare accurate and timely
reconciliation statements for banks and other accounts assigned and forward to
the supervisor for review as per agreed timelines



n) Preparation of relevant
reports accurately and within agreed timelines.



o) Assist in processing and
payments of dividends and interests for members accurately and promptly



p) Assist in maintaining an
up-to-date fixed asset register



q) Addressing member queries
promptly and as per the customer service charter.



r) Marketing and selling of
society products and services.



s) Any other lawful duties that
may be assigned from time to time.



4.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum level of academic qualification,
knowledge required to perform effectively in the role:



a) A Bachelor’s Degree in
Accounting or Finance or any other related field.



b) Successful candidates will
be required to meet the requirements of Chapter 6 of the constitution of Kenya
by obtaining the necessary documentation.



Minimum level of professional
qualification/professional experience required to perform effectively in the
role:



a) A professional accounting
qualification CPA-Finalist.



Minimum months or years of experience required to
have to be appointed to the position:




  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience and in a in a similar
    position.

Key Performance Indicators



a) Up to date bank
reconciliation.



b) All journals are done and
are correct.



c) Timely and accurate posting
of payments.



d) Accurate receipt summary by
4th of every following month.



e) Timely VAT filing.



f) Renewal of TAX certificates.



g) Minimal complaints
