ADMINISTRATIVE UNITS The county is composed of six Constituencies, 15 administrative divisions namely: Ainamoi,Belgut, Kabianga, Bureti, Roret, Cheborge, Sigowet and Soin. Other Admibnistrative Divisions are: Kunyak, Chilchila, Kamasian, Kipkelion, Londiani, Sorget and Chepseon. These are further su-devided into 85 locations that are further sub-divided into 209 sub-locations. It covers an area of2,479 sq. km.
Duties and responsibilities
- Identify and rehabilitate degraded sites;
- Establish plantations and implement silvicultural prescriptions;
- Devise measures for forest protection and biodiversity conservation;
- Take initiative for safe custody and control of stores and accountable documents;
- Implement management initiatives and plans for revenue collection, utilization of infrastructure, plant and equipment;
- Supervise orderly removal of forest products and community mobilization for forest management; Oversee preparation of annual work plans, progress and maintenance of relevant records.
- Coordinate forest advisory activities, tree resource assessment, preparation of annual work plans, community action plans and preparation of progress reports;
- Organize launch of tree planting season in consultation with county governments;
- Provide technical support on forestry field days, establishment of on-farm demonstration sites, urban forestry and roadside tree planting;
- Monitor utilization trends of tree resources;
- Ensure timely collection of revenue;
- Liaise with other stakeholders to promote conservation and development of riparian forests, biodiversity, sacred groves and shrines;
- And promote commercial forestry, wood energy conservation, forest based micro-enterprise and ecotourism.
Requirements for appointments
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-
- A Bachelor’s degree in Forestry from a recognized Institution.
- Certificate in Computer Application from a recognized institution.
