Job Title: Construction Civil Engineer

The company has worked on several projects, within Kenya, East Africa and other continents dealing with a variety of client; private individuals, companies, government institutions and the Nongovernmental organizations.

They are currently looking to hire a Construction Civil EngineerKey Responsibilities

Manage, design, develop, create and maintain small-scale through to large-scale construction projects in a safe, timely and sustainable manner

Plan and design residential and commercial structures, following construction and government standards, using design software and drawing tool

Conduct on site investigations and analyze data (maps, reports, tests, drawings and other)

Carry out technical and feasibility studies and draw up blueprints that satisfy technical specifications

Assess potential risks, materials and costs

Provide advice and resolve creatively any emerging problems/deficiencies

Oversee and mentor staff and liaise with a variety of stakeholders

Handle over the resulting structures and services for use

Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, plans, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects.

Monitor progress and compile reports in project status

Manage budget and purchase equipment/materials

Comply with guidelines and regulations including permits, safety etc and deliver technical files and other technical documentation as required

Skills and Qualifications Required

Degree in Civil Engineering

Should have experience in the Building industry for about 3 – 5 Years

Excellent knowledge of design and visualizations software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar

Proficiency in site layout, grading, utility design, erosion control, regulatory approvals et

Project management and supervision skills

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferably a licensed of professional engineer

BS/MA in Civil Engineering

Sound mathematical (financial) and technical skills

Ability to think methodically, to design, plan and manage projects

Ability to maintain an overview of entire projects while continuing to attend to detailed technicalities

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Negotiating, supervisory and leadership skills combined with the ability to delegate

General Manager Position Overview

The Role:

You will deliver high impact media coverage in national, regional and global markets by designing and implementing a regional media strategy to help bring change on core Oxfam issues, support global, regional and national campaigns, highlight Oxfam’s development and humanitarian work, and raise funds. Work with country teams, regional programmes and civil society partners to develop media strategies, build their capacity for engagement, and identify opportunities and new story angles. Maximise the impact of materials and opportunities by linking national, regional and global initiatives and resources. Maintain relationships and partnerships with journalists, media outlets and bloggers, and respond to media enquiries especially regional and national level. Come up with creative ways to generate media interest. Develop and drive Oxfam’s digital communications strategy in the region, exploring innovative ways to get messages across using social media, online platforms and mobile technology, and supporting country teams and partners to develop and maximise their use of digital and multimedia technology. You will oversee the implementation of the internal communications strategy and build capacity of officers.

The Person

We need an exceptional communications professional with considerable demonstrated experience of working in international media, communications or public relations roles, ideally in the HECA region. The candidate must have experience of the key responsibilities, including working with media, developing and delivering media and communications strategies, managing internal communications, knowledge and expertise of digital media, and building capacity and creating networks especially regional ones. The candidate must show demonstrable impact in using communications as a tool for social change, coupled with a degree or Masters in communications or relevant field.
