The Team Leader / Senior Agricultural Economist will lead a group of economists and other scientists within the Improving Markets Opportunities research team researching issues related to changing demand and market institutions in livestock products in Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.
The research utilizes multi-disciplinary tools from agricultural economics, agribusiness, innovation systems, and new institutional economics to elucidate the role of markets in promoting pro-poor growth.
Reporting to the Director of the Improving Market Opportunities Research Theme, the Team Leader will develop and implement a research programme in pro-poor development in collaboration with a range of local and international partners, focused on beyond-the-farm-gate elements of the livestock value chain, and manage day-to-day the team and donor-funded projects.
Key areas of research are expected to include:
Position level: The position is Scientist/Research Level 3, dependent on qualifications and experience.
Salary: ILRI offers a competitive international salary/benefits package. Base salary from USD 75,000 per annum. * Tax free but subject to compliance with the tax regulations of country of citizenship.
