Kenya: Communications Advisor, Program Support Services, Kenya

Project/Proposal Summary:
The project objectives are geared to support and strengthen the current USAID/Kenya strategy in meeting day to day information needs in order to make informed program management decisions, as well as to provide substantive support with qualitative, quantitative, and analytical information to assist in continually assessing and evaluating the Mission’s development hypothesis. It shall also assist the Mission with its public education goals by providing qualitative and anecdotal evidence on the effects of projects on the lives of individual beneficiaries.

Position Summary: MSI is seeking a Nairobi-based, full time Communications Advisor for the full term of the project to provide Information Dissemination and Public Education services. The position will produce written articles, reports, fact sheets, success stories, press releases, social media content, and coordinate press relations and press seminars.

This is a local position. Only Kenyan nationals are eligible to apply.

Responsibilities: • Produce publications focused on Intermediate Results (IR) and Development Objective (DO) level results; • Organize public events with the collaboration of USAID’s implementing partners and relevant stakeholders; • Draft speeches and audio content and manage social media outreach; • Develop reports and outreach materials; • Oversee development of factsheets, county profiles, success stories, radio content, etc.; • Coordinate with senior project staff and USAID to ensure efficient information collection and dissemination; and • Travel as needed in-country.

Qualifications: • Fluency in American English required; • A graduate degree in the field of communication, journalism, international development or a related field, or a bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ experience in addition to the required minimums; • At least 5 years of international experience in strategic communications, public relations, or communications for development; and • Demonstrated experience producing written products such as articles, reports, fact sheets, proposals, speeches, success stories, press releases, web site content, Facebook and YouTube content, managing VIP visits, and/or coordinating press relations and press seminars.
