Position: Inventory Manager
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Our client, a fast-growing renewable energy company based in Nairobi is looking to hire an inventory manager.
Inventory Manager Job Description and Responsibilities
As the Inventory Manager you will play a critical role in supporting the company’s core business and operational functions in a variety of capacities.
You will be responsible for managing and overseeing all inventory within the workshop.
This is a complex role within the renewable energy company’s operations and will require initiative and organization to be successful.
You will report to the Workshop Manager and the Director of Projects, and the rest of the company Directors as needed.
A more complete – but by no means exhaustive– list of responsibilities is provided below:
Making and issuing accurate, detailed purchase orders and ensuring they are issued well in advance of stock levels reaching zero.
Handling internal stock transfer on a daily basis in the Workshop, ensuring only the required and correct quantities are issued and done so with stock sheets.
Making work orders – whenever manufactured products are fully assembled, work orders for the same should be made almost immediately. Ensure works orders are correct and fully completed and that all stock has been allocated to the job correctly.
Making of Sales orders (SO) – Immediately work on a particular job begins, a sales order for the same should be created immediately. The SO should be closed when materials leave the workshop.
Overseeing packing of materials & tools to site and confirming the packing list (may be the same as the Sales Order) with the appropriate project manager.
Receiving materials and tools from site. This includes completing the proper documentation for returned materials once a trip returns to the Workshop and noting any missing tools and following up to ensure they are returned.
Making of the Final item list – this is basically the net sales made and is prepared using a template that is readily available.
Ensure that goods inward / stock control department is well organized and controlled to sufficiently support production and the goals of the business.
Updating documents – all soft copy documents relating to a particular project should be updated to the respective project folder in Dropbox.
Manage control measures to ensure mistakes, inaccuracies and discrepancies are highlighted, addressed and resolved.
Stock counter-check and monthly inventory audits – you are expected to occasionally counter check the stock levels in the various locations and ensure that the numbers match what is in the inventory software system.
Develop, follow, and maintain a control system to reduce damage, breakage and inventory obsolescence.
Provide routine management information on inventory performance
Monitor and evaluate consumables usage & costs
Monitor & evaluate material utilization and scrap
Skills and Qualifications for Procurement Job
4+ years work experience
Prior experience in inventory management or related field, with proven skills in using software programs to aide these technical tasks.
Proven track record of developing, implementing, and improving systems.
Prior experience managing and growing teams.
Fluent in Kiswahili and English, both in written and oral communications.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Intelligent and eager to learn.
Highly organized and strong attention to detail a must.
Hardworking and honest.
Enthusiasm in working for the field of renewable energy.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Flexible and eager to lend a hand wherever needed, even if a specific task may fall outside the core job description.
