Job Purpose: The client seeks to work with a website design consultant who will develop an online platform that will enable them to create an online community.
The website will seek to engage the partners and stakeholders in the roll-out of a campaign.
The successful candidate will be required to train an administrator to manage the website on real time basis given the nature of the campaign.
Functions of the Website:
Strengthen communication and information sharing; influence durable solutions to anticipated, existing and emergent key issues within the Pan-African region
Disseminate timely updates, video clips, podcasts
Provide an interactive opportunity for citizen, NGOs and CSOs to interact on relevant humanitarian and developmental issues influencing policy formulation and implementation. The website will act as a repository for material generated by the campaign and as a platform through which the public can interact with other like-minded individuals/institutions as well as the content
The website will allow the public to post comments and relevant information and converse via a self-mediated platform.
Link to other forums i.e. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr and Instagram
The website should also be able to handle SMS short code data as self-uploading since our audience may not all have access to Smartphones but yet we need to capture their voices
Provide a self-managed user friendly and easy to access portal on multiple platforms e.g. mobile devices and Desktop.
Deliverables:At the end of the assignment the Consultant is expected to have:
Developed appropriate branding resources e.g. the logo
Registered a domain name with an appropriate host and email addresses
Designed and uploaded a fully interactive, creative website featuring among others; Home, About Us, Resources, Blogs, calendar and the capacity to handle a high volume of traffic
Hand over the website’s intellectual property rights to AA4A upon successful completion of the task
Consultant Qualifications:
Must be in possession of a degree in Computer Science or related field and or relevant qualifications and experience in web design
An understanding of digital advocacy work
Proficient in social media as a tool to advance agenda and build an online community
Familiar with the digital landscape within the region and able to demonstrate evidence of similar work undertaken in the past or ongoing projects
