Regional Policy and Partnerships Officer, East Africa

Do you have the creativity and drive required to support the establishment and maintenance of positive working relationships with diverse stakeholders across East Africa and globally? 

Aga Khan Foundation, East Africa (AKF (EA)) is searching for a dynamic, innovative Regional Policy and Partnerships Officer (RPPO) to be based in Nairobi. 

The RPPO will participate in cultivating a wide-ranging network of new and existing partnerships across government, civil society and the private sector. 

The RPPO will also be responsible for supporting an ambitious resource mobilization programme across East Africa. The position will report to the Regional Policy and Partnerships Manager.

Specific responsibilities include:

Work with colleagues in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania to research and identify funding opportunities for funding all sectors and sub sectors of AKF East Africa;

Support proposal development processes by writing, editing and reviewing of proposals and communications documents;

Update the grants opportunity tracker and donor engagement database to ensure current programming and partner intelligence is accurate;

Represent AKDN in external partner meetings and supporting the unit in developing new partnerships;

Carry out research, policy analyses and writing and/or editing policy papers and information materials;

Liaise with communications and publicize success stories and evidence- based AKF solutions to development challenges for use in wider policy dialogue;

Support cultivating relationships with external partners including non-state actors on policy dialogue as advised;

Support knowledge management within the department, facilitating learning events and ensuring program documents are stored and accessible on the Intranet.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Minimum Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) or equivalent in international development or other relevant fields;

Minimum 3 years’ experience in international development;

Exceptional communication skills, able to make strong oral presentations and produce high quality written concept notes and proposals;

Strong interpersonal skills, initiative and ability to work effectively with a range internal teams and external partners;

Experience in policy research and analyse;

Programme development experience especially in developing funding proposals and responsive bids for new programming (preferred);

Experience in developing internal/external communication materials (preferred);

Willingness to visit programmes in the field.
