A2 IT Support Officer Jobs at British High Commission, Kenya

A vacancy has arisen at the British High Commission for an A2 IT Support Officer. The position is graded at A2 for which the current salary starts at Ksh 129,949 per month before deduction of tax.
Where the successful candidate is not liable to Kenyan tax, the salary will be abated under HM Treasury regulations to Ksh 97,356 per month to take account of the tax they would have paid.
Main purpose of job:
To administer and support end users by ensuring the availability and reliability of ICT systems and infrastructure including but not restricted to workstations and laptops, printers, e-mail, network hardware, cabling infrastructure, Uninterrupted Power Supplies, Audio-Visual and telecommunication devices. The job holder will also be required to work with other ICT teams based locally, regionally and in the UK to provide essential support as and when required.
Roles and responsibilities:
Provide IT support to users at the mission liaising as necessary with UK based operational services and other personnel in the High Commission
Undertake effective fault management, systems maintenance checks on the system and maintain a log of work performed.
Undertake regular and ad hoc approved upgrades to the system
Undertake local support for IP Telephony system at post
Network support, administration and management.
To act as the compliance officer for all internal ICT security procedures and working practices as dictated by Government ICT policies.
Effectively execute the financial management role for assigned IT budgets to ensure services and goods procured for the Mission provide value for money, maintain high quality and reasonable stock level while keeping with allocated budget amounts.
Review, recommend, procure configure and install approved hardware, software on the system.
Maintain an accurate and up to date hardware inventory of all IT assets.
Manage software licences in compliance with legal and commercial requirements on behalf of the HMG.
Undertake in-house IT training for new and existing staff members
Undertake and manage IT projects relevant to BHC and see to their successful implementation and completion.
Maintain a fully equipped and running back site for Business Continuity in case of emergencies.
Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Required skills/experience/qualifications:
Applicants should be able to demonstrate systems administration experience of supporting users working on government systems.
The job holder will be expected to develop skills across a broad range of competencies, working with a wide range of staff from all UK Government
Departments and external supplier and contractor.
