The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya

Scope / Overview: The BDM (Business Development Manager – Technical Advisor) will be responsible for calling on Architects, Consulting Engineers, technical/purchasing directors of Building Companies, Owners and Government offices located within Kenya to develop specifications for our clients brands and create demand for HDPE, PP sound reduction drainage systems, PPR hot and cold water supply systems, Redi underground drainage fittings and Sanit sanitary systems (exposed & concealed cisterns and shower channels).
 

The BDM will also find new distributors and work with the distributors to ensure they are properly trained and follow up any sales opportunities that have been created. 

 

The BDM will gain an in depth knowledge of the market, pricing and distribution.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Track new projects and visit Architects, Engineers, Contracting companies, Ministries and Owners to increase the level of specifications.


• Coordinate specification and sales opportunities with the local distributor and assist them to secure orders with local contractors when appropriate.


• Train, educate and support local distributors, as well as customers, as needed.


• Participate in local and regional trade shows.


• Provide market intelligence regarding competitor activity, market trends, building specific habits, large projects, new product ideas and new specifications to Marketing and Export Managers of companies.


• Collaborate regularly with Export Managers and local Management to achieve strategies and goals.


• Submit written reports in accordance with the requirements of the business.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree is required, with preference given to those with a technical / engineering degree.


• Minimum of 2 years of experience, calling on distributors, contractors, projects, architects and engineers for plumbing & sanitary related products.


• Exceptional presentation and organizational skills.


• Good English language skills (written and spoken)


• Kenya Driving license


• Prior experience in the building sector, especially drainage and water supply plastic pipe (PE, PPR, PVC) systems or and sanitary systems (exposed & concealed cisterns and shower channels), is essential.
