Our client is a very well respected name within FMCG cosmetic production and manufacturing based in Kampala, Uganda. 

With rapid expansion they are an exciting multinational company to be a part of with reach across the entire East and Central Africa.

 

We are looking for an experienced Research & Development Manager to join their team in Kampala Uganda

Overview of Role: Participate in innovative technical research and development programs perform in-house research activities. 

Provide technical support to the organization’s research.

Key Results Areas:

• Perform high quality in-house research activities in the field


• Manages and directs the research and development programs to meet organizational needs and to capitalize on potential new products.


• Develops and implements research and development procedures and techniques.


• Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.


• Supervises the management of multiple and diverse types of products or services.


• Designs working prototypes of a variety of proposed products or services.


• Develops proof-of-concept exercises to prove or disprove validity of proposed products.


• Develops organizational standards and processes in order to maximize complex product services’ efficiency and effectiveness.


• Advises on the appropriate solutions to complex product design and development problems.


• Creates and introduces new techniques that expedite or simplify the development process


• Monitor the costs and assess the benefits of research and development activities


• Interpret the results of research projects and recommend new products or services


• Provide advice on research and development options available to the organization


• Monitor any developments in the research area and work out how these may affect the organization; and publish the results of significant research projects as required

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Requires a graduate degree


• Minimum 3 years’ experience in cosmetic manufacturing research and development environment is a must


• A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.


• Experience in fields related to image processing, image analysis, computer vision, machine learning, pattern recognition, statistical methods, numerical methods, and computer graphics is an advantage.


• Ability to: operate at a very high level; work to deadlines; execute high level research projects


• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
