FH Kenya a Christian relief and development agency seeks to fill the following vacant position:

Position in the Organization: The Accountant reports hierarchically to the Field Accountant in Marsabit office.
Purpose of the Job: To provide support to the Field Accountant ensuring that grants are well monitored and in compliance with Donors Regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure that FH accounting procedures are strictly followed in all Field transactions, and that Staff are exposed on and adhere to the accounting policies.
- Approve all Marsabit Field payment authorisation vouchers, strictly adhering to FH financial policies.
- Approve the petty Cash journal before it is keyed in the SUN System.
- In liaison with the Field Accountant prepare monthly cash flows for Marsabit Field Office to ensure smooth running of the programmes.
- Check and discuss with Managers cost centre/program reports resolutely handling any pertinent issues.
- Ensure financial transactions in Marsabit adhere to FH policies
- Prepare all Field journals, oversee that they are keyed in, check for accuracy and export to Nairobi by the 7th of the following month.
- Ensure that all staff and program advances are accounted for promptly according to policy guidelines.
- Check and authenticate Staff and Program Manager’s expense reports.
- Ensure that accounts receivable and accounts payable are kept current at all times.
- Ensure that all vehicle log sheets are correctly maintained and submitted on time for the monthly report processing.
- Ensure that all field journals are adequately backed up, keyed into the computer and exported to Nairobi by the 7th of the following month.
- Be responsible for the safety and efficient operation of petty cash and bank accounts in Marsabit ensuring that there is optimum cash management.
- Be alert for any fraud or forgery and report immediately any accounting anomaly to the FH/K management.
- Any other duties as may be assigned by supervisor or FH/K management.
Qualifications / Experience (Minimum)
- CPA Part III or ACCA Finalist
- Knowledge in Sun System will be an added advantage.
