We are a leading player in the logistics industry in Kenya and are looking for experienced, results-oriented and energetic individuals for the following position:
 

Commercial Division Coordinator

Job Summary: Reporting to the CEO, the job holder shall be required to work in collaboration with the Commercial Department, interacting with and building cost effective relationships with the Company’s stakeholders such as shipping lines / airlines / road transport companies amongst others, playing an advisory role with respect to market trends and assisting with the preparation of tenders for the department.
 

 

Main Duties
 

The following duties and responsibilities are attributed to this position:

• Preparing quotations and tenders


• Interacting and relationship-building with shipping lines / airlines / road transport companies


• Analyzing data and preparing reports on market and trend analysis and presenting the same


• Making recommendations on new innovations in the area of market research, and creating new ways to meet the needs of a changing marketplace


• Working closely with the Managers and providing comprehensive analyses of transport, air freight and ocean freight trade lanes and identifying opportunities to drive profitable growth


• Performing financial analysis on the current state of pricing actions and impact across businesses, channels and services


• Identifying and quantifying pricing-related performance improvement opportunities


• Identifying market segments, estimate consumer demand and position products


• Developing recommendations and action plans in support of the creation, execution and measurement of pricing actions that address identified pricing-related performance improvement opportunities


• Following pre-established guidelines, performing analyses that will be conducted to establish business-level pricing strategy, channel-specific pricing practices and/or service-level price levels


• Developing and delivering presentations and reports to various levels across the Company functions


• Any other duties as may be allocated from time to time

Academic & Professional Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree in business / finance / economics / marketing or equivalent from a recognized university


• Accounting / Finance qualification is an advantage


• Sales / Marketing qualification is an advantage

Skills & Work Experience 

• Preferably 5 years within a logistics company with commercial exposure


• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of Packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)


• 1-3 years of data-driven marketing or finance-related experience in the logistics environment or at a financial services company


• A detailed operational understanding of local supply chain logistics. (Ports / Customs / Air / Road / Sea) – A good understanding of international logistics is a definite advantage


• Able to negotiate commercial arrangements with suppliers


• A financial background is a definite advantage


• Commercial minded, have an understanding of P&L reporting and a thorough understanding of how your actions will impact the bottom line
