These tasks include, but are not limited to helping with the set-up, monitoring and adjusting of mill processing equipment.
 

Physical Demands and Requirements: You
will be required to wear personal protective equipment, including hair
hats, gloves, safety shoes, and respiratory protection and ear
protection as appropriate. 

This job requires the ability
to read and comprehend written and oral operational and safety
instructions and related rules, policies and memos, and to communicate
clearly with your co-workers and supervisors. 

It is
important to have vision that permits close vision, distance vision,
peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
 

Responsibilities:

• Successful
  candidate will ensure all areas operate efficiently within agreed
  financial budgets. To seek continual improvement. The chief miller will
  be responsible maintaining efficient production, handling and packaging
  of flour and flour based products


• Control stock levels through
  line managers/supervisors of both raw materials and finished products to
  ensure efficient response to product specifications and volume
  requirements in line with forecasts and new product development can be
  made.


• Maintain and monitor production in respect of output
  yield/extraction capacity against set targets and also ensure quality in
  value addition through fortification with added micronutrients.


• Ensuring
  consistency of flour quality in line with taste, color and feel of the
  flour. Adding to the primary tasks of the chief miller.


• The candidate must have had experience with maize flour milling capacity, minimum of 100 metric ton per day.

Other Responsibilities:

• Perform and record mill extractions and adjust equipment accordingly. 


• Monitor test results of product samples to maintain product specification. 


• Progressively advance mill process management skills toward shift milling. 


• Advance within team leadership towards supervisory position. 


• Able to rotate among shift teams as needed.


• Set up, monitor and adjust mill processing equipment 


• Continuously assess mill operating conditions and make corrections to keep product within in specifications. 


• Perform GMP activities such as cleaning, routine maintenance and repairs as assigned. 


• Monitor filling/transfer of feed and flour to the assigned bins. 


• Ensuring clean up and remove product spills in a timely manner.

Qualification:

• A
  degree or higher national diploma (HND) in relevant field with
  preference for qualifications and experience in food science/technology,
  process engineering, production engineering and management.


• Milling experience of over 20-25 years is mandatory with at least last 10 years as Chief Miller


• Experience
  and good understanding of ISO 22000 FSMS, HACCP, GMP, US EAS 768:2012,
  US 28 EAS 39:2002, EAS 39:2001 and all other standards as applicable in
  the processing and packaging of fortified maize flour. 


• The suitable candidate should also have good managerial and reporting skills
