AIC Githumu Mission Hospital is looking for qualified candidate to fill the position of:

Medical Officer-1 Post

Duties and Responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for daily clinical assessment and prescription of treatment for patients attending the hospital.


• Carrying out ward rounds on as per schedule.


• Preparing and responding to emergencies and disasters.


• Maintaining medical records, health information and data,


• Counselling patients and their relatives on the diagnosis and bereavement, teaching and coaching medical students, nursing students and clinical officer’s interns.


• Performing medical and surgical procedures.


• Identify and coordinate referral of patients for further management.


• Liaise with consultants on management of patients in the facility.


• Participating in management of medicines, medical instruments and equipment,


• Develop clinical protocols and procedures in line with the current SOPs.


• Training of staff on job and theory sessions.


• Provide health talks to staff and patients in CMEs.


• Advise the management and board on clinical requirements.


• Represent the hospital and liaise with local and national authorities, donor agencies to promotes the hospitals programs.


• Overall supervision of the medical team in the facility.


• Ensure students and interns on attachment are appropriately placed within medical department and appropriately supervised.


• Coordinating and administering relevant and timely continuous medical updates to other staff.


• Conducting internal quality checks at the hospital


• Carry out other relevant duties as may be assigned by management.


• Any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor

Required Competencies

• Excellent Clinical and surgical skills


• Good communication skills


• Team player

Qualification:

1. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B; Ch.B.) degree from a recognized Institution by Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;


2. Successfully completed one (1) year internship from a recognized institution;


3. Registration license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;


4. Proficiency in computer application skills from a recognized institution.


5. Demonstration of experience in management and leadership a great added advantage.
