Location: The BOMA Project, Nanyuki Office
 




Position Overview: The BOMA Project seeks a Data Analyst to conduct analysis of program data for reporting and to provide real-time feedback to program staff.  



The ideal candidate will have advanced skills in Stata, two or more years of experience conducting data analysis, knowledge of statistics, and strong writing skills.   


 


Applicants who can demonstrate commitment, flexibility, enthusiasm and good team skills are preferred. 



The position reports to the Monitoring and Evaluation Manager of The BOMA Project in Kenya.  



Qualified individuals from Marsabit and Samburu are encouraged to apply.
 



Key Responsibilities:


  • Conduct analysis of current and historical program data

  • Use data to identify program gaps and trends

  • Compile and present data in a way that is easy to understand

  • Innovate new ways to visualize data

  • Prepare reports for donors

  • Adhere to project deadlines


Required Qualifications:


  • At least one year of experience conducting data analysis using Stata (skills to be tested during interview)

  • Experience cleaning large data sets

  • Knowledge of statistics

  • Naturally curious and analytical; able to sort through extensive data and craft hypotheses

  • Strong writing skills with experience preparing reports and technical documents

  • Bachelor’s  degree in statistics, economics, monitoring and evaluation or other relevant field

In order to strengthen its team, the project is looking for a suitable candidates to fill the following positions for the next one (1) year.


Program Officer


The Program Officer will provide programmatic and logistical support to the Result Area (RA).


S/he will work under the overall guidance of the Assistant Director to ensure efficient and effective operation of the unit.



Responsibilities


Maintain and update calendar of project activities including travel and visiting schedules, staff and other meetings and remind the team of upcoming events

Provide logistical support to all project activities including ensuring availability of required presentation equipment and materials.

Prepare and send out invitations through e-mail or participants of project funded activities

Communicate with the participants to ensure they are aware of the accommodation and other logistical arrangements.

Ensure submission of properly completed and signed off participant list to procurement after every field activity

Ensure participants transport payment are paid within the provided timelines and approved rates

Liaise with the various partners and stakeholders in different capacities as directed by supervisor

Draft and review routine office correspondence and respond to enquiries as necessary

Establish and maintain a filing system for the program portfolio

Prepare and submit project progress reports and correspondence to relevant offices

Prepare and/or edit drafts of reports, contracts, and terms of reference for contractors

Liaise with the procurement, logistics and finance teams on requisitioning for services in collaboration with the supervisor


Education and Experience Requirements


Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or relevant field

At least 4 years relevant experience in similar position in a busy office or Project

Demonstrated ability to coordinate high level workshops and seminars paying attention to detailed logistical requirements, including supporting field team.

Demonstrate skills in documentation and report writing

Duties and Responsibilities:


Work closely with the Communication team in managing the IntraHealth / Project photo-library by carefully labelling all images and ensuring library is well stocked

Assist in populating the quarterly reporting template and drafting activities and monthly reports

Support in communication products design and production using relevant software applications (InDesign, Corel, Photoshop and Adobe Premier)

Collect and document success stories and pictorials from different project sites

Support provision of communication and visibility through appropriate branding and marking compliances

Support communication team in editing stories and publications as required

Work closely with team in the planning, implementation and monitoring of the HRH Capacity Bridge Project

Support the preparatory activities related to field work – assessment, evaluations, surveys by liaising with Procurement, Logistics and Finance teams

Assist in the compilation and dissemination of Project Reports (quarterly, semi-annual and annual), and any other M&E related documentation as requested

Any other duties as assigned by the Director of M&E


Education and Experience Requirements


Bachelor’s degree in Communication / Journalism or related field

At least 2 year working experience in the development field in a Communication unit

Photography, graphic design and short video production skills required

Experience in knowledge management (KM) is desirable.

Demonstrate good documentation and report writing skills
