Polish Humanitarian Action is looking for an individual willing to join in the actions carried out within the PAH Humanitarian and Development Aid as: WASH Technician
General information:
Location: primarily Jonglei State; all states of South Sudan
Terms and Conditions: Duration: 11 months with the possibility of extension, depending on funding for following projects; July 2012
Key Areas of Accountability:
The main responsibilities of WASH Technicians will be:Visits to the areas where WASH emergencies occur and responding to these emergencies through:Rehabilitations and drilling of new boreholesBorehole and other water scheme repairsUpgrading boreholes to mini or full water yardsSetting up Surface Water Treatment plants (SWATs)Constructing emergency latrines, rehabilitating existing institutional latrinesCooperation with local authorities and local communitiesFacilitating appropriate community involvement in the design and delivery of essential WASH services and facilitiesCooperation and working with local pump mechanicsCooperation with Project/ Programme Coordinator in general, and specifically in managing procurement and logistics for project-related equipment and materialMaintaining an accurate record and taking proper care of all field equipment and material stocks for the WASH ER TeamKeeping proper records of field expenditures and reporting accordinglyDocumentation and monitoring of water infrastructure, water point mappingWriting reports from carried out interventionsQualifications, Experience and Skills:
Diploma in Water Technology, Water Engineering or relatedAt least 2 years of experience in the WASH sectorEmergency response experienceExperience in drilling and repairing India Mark hand pumps, experience in repairing Duba Tropic will be an assetStrong command of written and spoken EnglishAbility to write clear reportsValid driving licenseAbility to cope with simple living conditions in insecure environmentsTeam spirit, supporting a team of up to 7 peopleLanguage skills in ArabicExperience of working and living in South Sudan and Jonglei State in particular Ability to use communication technologies: Thuraya / radio Previous work experience in NGOsIf you are interested in applying for this position, please fill the application form, which you can find here:
