Job Title: Structural Draughtsman

Location: Nairobi
Salary: 40K – 50K gross
Our client is a leading construction company in Kenya and the rest of Africa. They offer roofing, commercial and residential solutions on projects basis.
Their technology is advanced, innovative superior, sustainable and above all affordable; mainly specializes in techno steel framing systems.
Job Purpose: Develop plans, drawings and sketches. Using AutoCAD software, prepare a visual depiction of a product to be constructed, create construction plans and use working knowledge of traditional drafting methods.
- Responsible for knowing and complying site safety rules and regulations.
- Conferring with architects and/or engineers, to gain an understanding of the scope and requirements of a project.
- Prepare sketches and drawings for fabrication, including civil, structural, etc and communication lay out section elevation
- Utilizing both manual drawing skills as wells as computer‐based application, such as automated computer‐assisted drafting, to create both two‐dimensional and three‐dimensional renderings of the finished project.
- Make simple but professional computation through the use of tables, charts, etc.
- Presenting drafts to the architect or engineer for review and makes changes to the renderings.
- Supervise allocated projects from site
- Prepares bar schedules and other construction notes.
- Prepares bill of materials and cost estimates of simple structures of simple structure.
- Contribute to the orientation of new staff.
- Complies with all Company safety procedures and regulations.
- Acquire further knowledge by attending training courses and or seminars required by the Company.
Skills and Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Civil/Structural Draughtsman ship
- Excellent command of TEKLA and/or AutoCAD at an advanced level; ArchiCAD an added advantage
- Minimum 5 Years’ Experience in draughting and checking of fabrication drawings for structural steelwork and other components for industrial buildings in Tekla and/or AutoCAD.
- MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel and Power-point) with excellent command of oral and written English and Kiswahili
- Good knowledge of structural draughting processes and procedures in a steel fabrication company
- Knowledge of Estimating and Quantity Surveying will be an advantage.
- Possess business etiquette with a strong work ethic, high level of honesty/integrity, results oriented, ability to deliver under pressure
- Possession of National ID
