Reports to Chief Officer-County Cohesion and Intergovernmental Relations
Duties and Responsibilities
Accepts responsibility for all intergovernmental relations activities and services, including planning and supervising a comprehensive countywide information system.
Participates, as assigned, in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and priorities for county wide legislative and policy actions.
Serves as a liaison; develops and enhances positive, effective relationships with other agencies and elected representatives, with particular emphasis on local agencies, county organizations, and state representatives including elected officials, regulatory bodies.
Maintains awareness of legislative activities affecting county operations and the potential impact on County operations, tracks State and National Government legislation; anticipates legislative issues and identifies opportunities to develop and influence policy to best meet the needs of the County and the Citizens.
Interprets complex and technical legislative reports and summarizes data for County Executive and staff.
Conducts studies, surveys, and collects information on difficult intergovernmental and administrative problems; analyzes findings and prepares reports of practical solutions for review for County Executive and other relevant officers.
Provides technical support and legislative updates to County Executive and staff.
May be assigned to coordinate assigned programs of the Chief Officer’s Office with County departments and divisions and with outside agencies
Represents the County in Government meetings, special commissions and boards, the community at large, at professional meetings as required, and with legislators, elected and appointed officials, and other political jurisdictions.
Requirements for appointment
A Bachelors degree in Public Administration, business administration or any other related field.
Masters Degree in the relevant field and Senior Management Course are highly desirable.
Knowledge of modern principles of public administration and the public legislative processes, current political and economic trends in governments, principles and practices of Intergovernmental relations and report writing skills are added advantages.
Five years experience in the relevant field.
Skills in computer literacy and software applications.
