Our client, well-established multinational organization that provides complete lifecycle power solutions focusing on marine and energy markets, is looking to hire a Purchasing Officer.
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Purchasing Officer will be responsible for managing the day to day purchasing operations of the Plant.
The Plant Accountant will also perform and participate in assigned activities in support of departmental objectives
Responsibilities
- Acquisition of goods and services for the Plant and preparation and circulation of all documentation (Purchase Solicitation, Purchase Request, Quotation, and Purchase Order) for the acquisition of materials, services and equipment of the Plant.
- Obtain and analyse the quotations and receive the competing proposals and bids for the acquisition of capital goods.
- Maintain vendor and suppliers list and ensure that credit is established and maintained with vendors.
- Monitor all purchase orders that are still open until they are received in the plant.
- Maintain the Plant purchase plan and correctly code purchase orders and invoices
- Prepare all invoices and receive reports for processing by accounting.
- Maintain the computer-based purchase order system called the Maintenance Management system (MAMA including, but not being limited to issuing and tracking spare parts and supplies; the record of minimum, maximum and of replenishment points; the record of economical shares, location and other necessary information for the running of the computerized system of purchases.)
- Analyze the purchasing & logistics needs and makes relevant recommendations to the Plant Manager
- Prepare and analyse purchasing & logistics and inventory reports.
- Oversee implementation and adaptation of purchasing & Logistics procedures relevant to the Plant
Requirements: The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate that they have the necessary purchasing skills, experience and competence to immediately add value to the work of the Plant to ensure the timely delivery of delegated tasks and quality services.
Additional minimum qualifications and competencies are:
- At least four year’s relevant work experience in Purchasing Operations in a large and busy manufacturing/industrial environment.
- Have a bachelor’s degree in Business or related field]
- Have relevant post graduate qualification in Procurement & Supply chain Management
- Have a high degree of computer literacy – to include competence in the following Microsoft applications – word processing, spreadsheets, databases, file management, e-mail and the internet.
- Able to demonstrate cost awareness and having knowledge of maintain cost effectiveness
- Able to demonstrate experience in implementing internal controls and internal auditing procedures
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of end-to-end business processes
- Working knowledge of purchase order software
- Excellent communication skills
- Numeracy skills with knowledge and skills in the preparation and maintenance of proper financial records
- Ability to work with minimum supervision either alone or in a team
Remuneration: The gross pay for this position is competitive and negotiable depending on experience and demonstrable contribution.
