Our client is a global company dealing in power generation i.e. power solution provider and a power generating equipment supplier. They seek to hire a technical manager who will be responsible for the overall day to day operations.

Technical Manager Job Purpose

A technical operations manager helps a firm’s senior leadership oversee corporate activities on a daily basis. He/she provides managerial and technical guidance to staff, manages all operational aspects of technical processes and helps with issue resolution.

Key Responsibilities

Helping run the department through engaging customers into operating and maintenance contracts as all quotes and executions of the services, mechanical and electrical repairs will be an output of this department.

Supervision across multiple sites with local site operators capable of maintaining a permanently running power station

Responsible to ensure that Local site operators comply to all training requirements to be able to execute their jobs with the necessary qualification, confidence, safety and standard to give expected outcomes.

Assist in growing this department into a profitable sustainable department.

Uncompromising quality service including all technical aspects, client, staff, supplier and other stakeholder relations

Expertise in ability to resolve both mechanical and electrical issues

Maintaining health and safety standards on site which conform to the Company’s Health and Safety at work policies.

Ensure local value add meets the Company’s health and safety and quality standards

Minimize delay by having a good understanding of the Company’s product, systems and policies

Engage the customer into a service contract that is beneficial to Customer

Ensure service reports issued to customer, CESN and others meets the highest standard

Assist in providing accurate power readings to Client for Billing purposes

Maintain integrity and discipline in all engagements with the customer, vendors and colleagues at all times

Continuously ensure that the product supplied meets the latest technology as required in accordance to Company’s standards.

Ensure PDI’s are undertaken on all sets

Ensure Operators and Technicians are trained to be able to maintain and operate Gensets, identifying appropriate levels of skill and ability, safely developing skills in-house and externally

Oversee any local value add, internally and externally

Assist Operations Manager in control of the Operations Budget for each site, identifying areas for improvement

Assist in issuing a Monthly Report for each site
Technical Manager Job Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical engineering or relevant technical background

5 years operations management experience (with technical background)

Engine and Power Generation Experience (Alternators controllers and installation)

In Power and Insight qualified

Service management experience

Experience in working in Africa with a proven ability to achieve required standards in challenging circumstances

Functional / technical

Great communication (Verbal and Written), leadership and interpersonal skills

Ability to work in challenging conditions with multidisciplinary team

Strong planning and organizational skills with attention to detail

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word

Positive attitude, high productivity and ability to multi-task

Ability to manage and lead employees
