Job Title: Logistics & Routing Manager
Industry: E – Commerce
Location: Nairobi
Salary: Kshs 150K – 200K
Our Client is an e-commerce company with over 100 agents (Shopkeepers) across the outskirts of Nairobi.
These agents are responsible for taking orders and making payments for any catalogue item that the customer wishes to purchase.
The goods are then delivered to the customer within the shortest time possible through the agent.
The goods range from food stuff, personal hygiene products, household items, renewable energy systems, automotive etc.
Key Responsibilities
Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment, or frequency
Establish or monitor specific supply chain-based performance measurement systems
Create policies or procedures for logistics activities
Maintain metrics, reports, process documentation, customer service logs, or training or safety records
Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports, or customer issues
Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes, such as customer sales, order management, accounting
Supervise the work of logistics specialists, planners, or schedulers
Direct inbound or outbound logistics operations, such as transportation or warehouse activities, safety performance, or logistics quality management
Direct or coordinate comprehensive logistical or reverse logistical functions for product life cycles, including acquisition, distribution, internal allocation, delivery, recycling, reuse, or final disposal of resources
Negotiate with suppliers or customers to improve supply chain efficiency or sustainability
Direct distribution center operation to ensure achievement of cost, productivity, accuracy, or timeliness objectives
Negotiate transportation rates or services
Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or mixes, or carriers
Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment, or frequency
Monitor product import processes to ensure compliance with regulatory or legal requirements
Participate in carrier management processes, such as selection, qualification, or performance evaluation
Develop risk management programs to ensure continuity of supply in emergency scenarios
Plan or implement improvements to internal or external logistics systems or processes
Organizes and schedules all necessary resources required to accomplish activities
Conducts Root Cause Investigations for all injuries and incidents, ensuring consistent discipline and retraining
Documents problem fixes and provides instructions to dispatch/service should problems recur
Minimum Qualifications
Degree in logistics or related field
At least 5 years experience in similar role
Able to operate effectively in a high volume service driven transport operation
Possessing a good understanding of all relevant legal compliance and fleet controls
Experience of Budgets and Financial controls
Full understanding of transport operational systems
Able to multiple relationships at different levels
Strong communication and analytical skills
Problem solving, customer service and prioritizing skills
Aggressive
Ability to work well under pressure
