People leave their jobs for a number of reasons. What happens you feel like you would rather be in your old job after your new job doesn’t seem so promising?
Sylvia Mwende is stuck between a rock and hard place after finding out that the grass was not greener on the other side.
This is her story
“I left my job as a Customer Service Officer 2 weeks ago for a better paying and what I thought would be better position more suited to my skills. The new position is also well paying compared to my old one. However, things at the new job have not been good since day one.

Why I want My Old Job back
My first day there, I completely felt out of place. The new company had known about my arrival for two weeks prior so I figured everything would be ready for me.
On top of that, I found that the boss was also on leave and I was handed over to the HR Manager to deal with me.
After a week, I finally saw the manager but the whole conversation left me feeling uncomfortable, when I went to his office, he didn’t even welcome me, or say that it was good to see me on the team.
On that day, we went for lunch with my workmates. During our walk to the restaurant, they proceeded to complain in front of me about things with their jobs and the manager.
I have never felt so uncomfortable in my life, and I am regretting leaving my old job and it is only two weeks. I am thinking of asking for my old job back. I left on very good terms, but I have not had to ask for my old job back before.
Any advice as to what I should do?”
