1. Primary Purpose
The holder of the position will be responsible for the overall delivery of Facilities Management services in the East Africa Region, namely Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia.
The services to be offered include; the organization’s Realty Services Facilities Management and Project Management.
These services are key to the efficient running of the organization as well as ensuring there is sound management of company premises.
The objectives of the position of Facilities Manager East Africa are to:
- Audit of East Africa premises resulting in recommendations for premises upgrade.
- Supervision of projects in CRS non-presence countries within EA Fire Life and Safety related upgrades.
- Continued technical consultancy to CRS in EA.
- Implementation of facilities management strategy
- Formulate a schedule for facilities management for all East Africa countries
- Adoption of facilities maintenance accompanied with evidence of proposed changes to these contracts to upgrade contractual structure to the organization’s standards.
- Fast track the process of signing in-country maintenance partners for more efficient service delivery.
- Implement a reporting/monitoring matrix to track issues across EA e.g. East Africa/regional conference calls, etc.
2. Principal Accountabilities
The job is held accountable for the following services:
I. Facilities Management: There is no CRS presence in the 3 countries. The holder of the position will be required to coordinate the CRS functions to ensure effective management of the organization’s resources through :
- Preventive maintenance of the facilities
- Management of the CRS vendors and their respective contracts
- Instituting quality control programs
II. Vendor Management: The FM is responsible for the following facilities vendor management processes
- Vendor selection and negotiation to ensure good quality service is received at the best price
- Review of contracts in liaison with the Legal Counsel
- Relationship Management to ensure continuous provision of services and no disruption to organization’s Operations
- Periodic performance evaluation of contracts
- Ensuring compliance with the Approved Supplier Program
III. Performance Management: Monitor and manage the performance of each member of the FM Team in all the EA countries to ensure they develop to their full potential.
IV. Continuous improvement: Work as a team to identify cost saving opportunities through the procurement process, or process improvements.
3. Specialised Skills / Experience:
Education:
- University degree in Civil or Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
Experience:
- At least 2 years of Facilities Management experience
