Manufacturing Firm Cost Accountant Job in Thika Kenya

Our client, a manufacturing entity based in Thika is seeking to hire a Cost Accountant.

Responsibilities

• The cost accountant position is accountable for the ongoing analysis of process constraints, target costing projects, margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities.


• Analyze manufacturing variances generated from manufacturing operation activities.


• Understanding of standard cost systems.


• Familiar with manufacturing operation and cost drivers of potential variances.


• Analyze actual manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of cost standards.


• Help the Plant Controller coordinate plant monthly production financial forecasts, manufacturing goals and objectives, financial reconciliations, reports and analysis for plant management and cost control reporting and recommendations. 


• Monitor and provide suggestions to support continuous improvement of manufacturing facility productivity.


• Compile and analyze manufacturing metrics and performance reporting, providing operational insights to manufacturing and company management.


• Provide analysis on capital expenditures.


• Develop a thorough understanding of the factory ERP; ensure data integrity and consistency to optimize plant information systems.


• Monthly reconciliation of selected balance sheet accounts.


• Fixed asset accounting.


• Support audit requests.

Education and Experience Requirements

• 8 years of related accounting and business experience, of which two years are as a cost accountant in a manufacturing environment.


• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.


• Undergraduate degree in Accounting, preferred.


• Strong cost systems background and excellent analytical skills with sound understanding of accounting principles.


• Experience working with engineering and manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of cost standards, preferred.


• Experience with ERP systems required.
