Position: Psychosocial Support Officer 





Responsible to: CBR Manager
 


Location: Dadaab 





Closing date: 5th September, 2017
 


The Organization: Handicap International is an INGO specializing in the field of disability and development. 






 

A strong emphasis is placed on empowering people with disabilities through their integration into mainstreaming development activities and the provision of appropriate health and rehabilitation services to ensure equal opportunities for all.
 


The Position: Responsible for the smooth implementation of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MPHSS) activities) in accordance with the Project Document and Approved Work Plan. 





He/she coordinates planning, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of component activities. 





He/she will provide technical guidance to and builds the capacity of the project team to improve quality of service delivery as per Handicap International standards.
 


S/he will be responsible for
 


1. Implementation of Mental Health and Psychosocial (MPHSS) activities

  • Developing monitoring and evaluation tools and training social workers, counselors and other staff on how to administer them.

  • Capacity building of HI project staff (national and refugee) on MHPSS

  • Identifying, assessing, providing psychosocial support services (including family mediation sessions)


2.Acting as the link with other psychosocial support services partners
 


3. Supporting capacity development of community psychosocial support workers

  • Identifying training needs of psychosocial counsellors, and conducting training based on training plan and module validated by CBR Manager and technical advisers.

  • Providing continuous mentorship and coaching for community psychosocial support workers

  • Preparing reports on training outcomes, with recommendations.


Qualifications and skills required:
 


Essential
 


Education

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree or higher diploma in Counselling psychology / psychology or any other related discipline

  • Diploma in Occupational Therapy


Experience

  • At least 3 years practical experience in mental health project.

  • Experience working preferably working with people with disabilities is an added advantage
