IRDO Study Coordinators Jobs in Kisumu, Homabay and Siaya Counties

Impact Research and Development Organization is a registered Kenyan NGO with a main office in Kisumu and regional offices in eight counties. 





IRDO’s principal mandate is to design, implement and evaluate HIV/AIDS research and intervention programs that improve the health status of individuals and local communities. 





We are looking for qualified and experienced Study Coordinators to oversee the implementation of three of our studies.
 



 

Studies:

  1. A study of long-acting biodegradable MPT for sustained delivery of ARVs and contraceptives.

  2. A mixed methods study exploring how adolescent girls and young women make decisions about using or not using PrEP.

  3. A cluster randomized controlled trial assessing the effect of secondary distribution of HIV oral self-test kits on promoting partner testing.


Position Title: Study Coordinator 





(3 positions)
 


Reporting to: Research Manager
 


Location: Kisumu, Homabay and Siaya Counties
 


Terms: One year renewable, for up to 2-5 years, depending on the study.
 


Position opens: Immediately
 


Job Summary: The successful candidates will be the overall in-charge of study coordination and implementation.





S/he will ensure that the study is conducted according to the national and international ethical standards, that high quality data are collected and stored, that study participants are enrolled in a timely manner, and that study staff are performing their duties optimally.

Key roles:
 


Pre study initiation:

  • Support the development of the study protocol and associated documents

  • Oversee IRB submission processes

  • Prepare standard operating procedures for study activities


During study implementation:

  • Ensure community entry activities have been adequately done

  • Participate in hiring and training of key study staff

  • Oversee data collection, entry and submission

  • Ensure staff uphold principles of research ethics

  • Ensure adequate pace of participant enrollment

  • Take lead in preparing and submitting regular reports as needed

  • Plan updates meetings for and supervision by the study investigators

  • Organize regular conference calls with local and international investigators.


Post-data collection:

  • Work with investigators to plan for study closeout and dissemination of results

  • Participate in the preparation of the final field report.

  • Participate in data analysis and manuscript writing


Minimum qualifications:

  • Master of Public Health or relevant post-basic degree.

  • Five years experience in study coordination, preferably in a recognized research organization

  • Excellent knowledge of research conduct, preferably clinical trials

  • Good record of documentation, and excellent writing skills and attention to detail
