Job Profile: Stock & Cost Controller


Job Location: Nairobi


Job Purpose:


Manage stock/inventory movements across all the physical & virtual warehouses. Ensure stock levels are properly accounted for across all the locations and adequate controls are in place to prevent any losses. To ensure the company has up to date, accurate and reliable stock and cost information across different categories and locations.


Responsibilities



  • To ensure accurate cost is attached to all the cost items in the business

  • Ensure accurate, reliable and live-stock & cost information is available at all times

  • Manage stock movements across locations ensuring accuracy and control

  • Effectively manage minimum stock reorder levels across all locations optimising the working capital

  • Ensure proper controls are in place to prevent loss/theft of stock

  • Work closely with the users to project future consumption and project the business needs

  • Work closely with the Procurement department to prevent unnecessary overstocking

  • Optimise the movements of stock across locations with the view of minimising the logistics and storage costs

  • Ensure the stocks are properly accounted for in the system (Inergy/SAP)

  • Ensure all necessary documentation is prepared and kept in relation to stock receipts, movements and dispatch

  • Prepare regular management information reports on stocks and costs

  • Focus on continuous improvement of stock management and optimisation of costs

  • Manage, coach and develop warehouse and stocks staff


Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting, Mathematics/Statistics, Business Administration, Commerce or Sciences

  • A master’s degree in managerial/financial courses an added advantage

  • CPA qualification is an advantage

  • Minimum 5years of relevant experience in major corporations, preferably in FMCG sector. Must have held senior position in stock or cost management

  • Proven track record of stock and cost management skills

  • Proven track record of managing and coaching staff

  • Advanced Excel and presentation skills

  • Ability to perform under pressure and toward strict deadlines

  • Excellent communication skills. Confident in presenting to senior management

  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to details. Self-starter and able to work under minimal supervision

  • Demonstrated openness to change and ability to manage complexities and remain calm, in control even under pressure
